Our commitment

We believe finances shouldn't stand in the way

NOLS is committed to making wilderness education accessible to everyone. We offer need-based financial aid to help bridge the gap between what a course costs and what your family can afford.

Our financial aid program has helped thousands of students experience the transformative power of NOLS. We evaluate each application individually, considering your unique financial circumstances to determine the right level of support.

How it works

Four steps to financial aid

The process is straightforward. Here is what to expect from application to award.

1

Apply to your course

Start by applying to the NOLS course you want to take. The financial aid application is a separate process that runs in parallel.

2

Complete the financial aid form

Fill out the online financial aid application. It asks about your household income, family size, and educational expenses.

3

Submit supporting documents

Provide copies of recent tax returns and any other financial statements that help us understand your situation.

4

Receive your award

Our team reviews applications on a rolling basis. You will typically receive your award decision within 2-3 weeks of submitting all materials.
