NOLS Featured on NPR

Why would a 20-something give up iPods, alcohol, a soft bed — all the
things that young people supposedly hold dear — and sleep on the ground
for 2 1/2 months?

Ask any NOLS grad, and you’ll get their own unique response to that question. Folks listening to National Public Radio this weekend, however, got some of the answers on the show Weekend Edition. NPR’s Larry Abramson recently spent some time on the river section of a Summer Semester in the Rockies, floating down Lodore Canyon in Western Colorado. He interviewed students and instructors about the challenges and rewards of being a part of a NOLS course.
