Academic Credit

Many NOLS students earn high school or college credit for the skills, judgment, and leadership they develop on their course. Here is how credit works, who grants it, and how to request your transcript.

NOLS is different from a traditional academic program. Our curriculum is leadership, risk management, wilderness medicine and technical outdoor skills. Even so, more than 400 colleges and universities recognize the learning that happens on a NOLS course, and several university partners grant academic credit directly.

Academic credit differs by course. Expedition credit(opens in new tab) and wilderness medicine credit(opens in new tab) are handled separately, through different university partners. Confirm the specifics for your course before you register.
