’74 NOLS Grad 4th of July Memory

From the July 4, 2005 Baltimore Sun article on favorite 4th of July memories:

1974. I was part of a National Outdoor Leadership School program in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. Our group finished our big hike and got to our campsite on a small lake on July 3, such a beautiful day! Most of the 25 did a quick swim in the lake — quite refreshing with some snow around. Then, we camped around the lake and woke up in the middle of the cold night to snow!!! And naturally, during the Fourth everyone was amused and we kept singing “God Bless America,” “The Star-Spangled Banner” and were loving the beauty of the world.
