Course Features

• 22-day Backpacking and Cultural Expedition
• Average group size: 10–15 students, with a 1:5 instructor-to-student ratio; 2 Tanzanian cultural liaisons per course
• 15-day backpacking section with mileage of approximately 40 – 50 miles
• Elevation range: 4,500 to 6,000 feet
• Average backpack weight: 40-55 pounds
• On- and off-trail hiking through tropical rainforests and savannah grasslands
• Cultural interactions with Maasai, Datoga, and Hadza tribes
• Opportunities to develop Kiswahili and Maasai language skills
• Safari at Ngorongoro Conservation Area
• Amazing wildlife study opportunities including lions, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and various antelope species
