About this course

Whether your program is small or large, as an outdoor recreation professional you have a responsibility to your staff and participants to invest in risk management planning. This workshop provides an overview of operational risk management systems for outdoor programs. NOLS will provide you with a structured approach and tools to enhance your risk management plan appropriate for your program. NOLS has spent 60 years managing risk in wilderness environments around the world and, in this training, brings that learning to you. Join us to connect and share your valuable experience with peer programs, and let us share our experience and lessons learned with you.

  • Learn a structured approach to analyzing risk in outdoor activities and how to create a plan to manage those risks.
  • Learn about the role of systems thinking in outdoor risk management and how to apply it to your programs.
  • Participate in an emergency and crisis response scenario
